Veteran Grave Registration

A series of card files were located in the office of the Brown County Recorder and contained information on the burials on known war Veterans - from the Revolution through 1995.  These cards were arranged by cemetery and then alphabetically by individual name.

 

All of the original information has been indexed into a spreadsheet and currently updated on a quarterly basis as information is received from the Ohio Department of Vital Statistics.

Unfortunately, the files are not complete, especially for Veterans of early wars.  Some Veterans whose tombstone inscriptions attest to military service are not represented in the files.  

The office has done their best to transcribe this information electronically and keep the information current.
